Increase your impact with Kudos

Amsterdam University Press (AUP) is working in partnership with Kudos to help authors maximise the visibility and impact of their publications. Kudos is a free service to help authors explain their work in plain language, add links to related resources, and to generate trackable links for sharing their work via email and social media. The service also enables authors to see the effect of their actions by tracking the resulting increase in downloads, readership and, ultimately, citations.

How does Kudos work?

After publishing with AUP, authors will receive an email inviting them to the Kudos platform. From there, they will be led through various steps that prompt them to explain their publication; enrich them with links to other resources, such as images or data; and share information about their work via social networks and email. The Kudos platform distributes the additional content and links to make the publications easier to discover. Kudos also provides widgets that can be easily embedded into webpages to present researchers' lay abstracts on their own sites.

How does Kudos benefit authors?

Kudos helps authors increase the discoverability of their research among peers, the media, and broader audiences both within and outside of their specialist communities. By connecting the dots between their communications and metrics, Kudos also provides authors with a rich understanding of how best to increase their readership.

An independent study has found that proactively explaining and sharing work via Kudos correlates to a 23% increase in full-text downloads!
